This is us.
A privately held construction group that grew out of a framing crew and never quite lost the habits that made it work.
SS American Global Services LLC — four operating divisions, one yard on East Jefferson Street, and one rule that has not changed since 1998: the person who makes the promise is the person on the job.
SSA is not a holding company that acquired its way into construction. Every division here started because a client asked us for something we did not yet do, and we decided that buying the equipment and hiring the crew was more honest than subcontracting it and marking it up.
That is why we own excavators instead of renting them, why our service desk is staffed by people who have swung a hammer, and why our estimators walk the site before they price it. It is a slower way to build a company. It produces a company that can actually do the work it sells.
We are privately held and intend to stay that way. There is no exit plan driving decisions here, which means we can take the ten-year view on equipment, on training, and on the buildings we own.
How we work

Decide on site
The person who makes the promise is the person standing on the job. Our structure is flat because a question that takes three days to answer costs more than the answer is worth.
Self-perform the hard parts
Concrete, framing, finish carpentry and earthwork are done by our own crews. It is more expensive to carry and it is the reason our dates hold.
Say the number early
If a budget is not going to work, the client hears it in week two, not in month seven. Bad news does not improve with age.
Hire for the second job
We would rather train someone for ten years than staff up for one project. It shows in the crews and clients notice.
Leave the site better
Neighbors did not choose to live next to a construction project. Clean site, controlled dust, honest hours.
Everyone goes home
Nothing on a schedule justifies an unsafe hour. Anyone on an SSA job can stop work, and no one has ever been disciplined for it.
Our history
Twenty-eight years, told honestly.
Two trucks and a framing crew
SSA is founded as a framing subcontractor working residential subdivisions. The first year ends with four employees and one repeat client.
First general contract
A repeat client asks us to run their whole project rather than one trade. We say yes before fully knowing how, and finish three weeks early.
The civil division
We buy our first excavator rather than renting for the ninth time that year. Site and civil becomes a standalone company two years later.
Building services opens
Clients keep calling about small repairs that no one else will take. We staff a service desk. Within eighteen months it is a division.
Property company formed
We buy the shop we had been leasing, then the building next to it. SSA Properties now owns and leases around Citrus County.
The Jefferson Street yard
We consolidate the shop, the equipment yard and the office onto one site on East Jefferson Street. Everything now runs from one gate.
Development arm launched
Project development formalises what we had been doing informally for years: finding the site before the client has one.

Still privately held. Still self-performing. Still answering the phone.

SSA is owned and run by Sonia Williamson, who signs the contracts and still turns up on site. Steven Burns, Vice President, runs the business day to day and is the person most clients end up dealing with.
Below them sit four division directors, each accountable for their own work, their own crews and their own numbers. Every one of them is listed on the contact page with a direct line, because a leadership page you cannot call anyone from is decoration.

Certified where it counts, measured where it matters.
Safety
Every SSA employee has stop-work authority — craft labor included, on their first day. We run daily pre-task planning on every crew, weekly toolbox sessions, and a monthly all-hands safety review where incidents and near misses are read out by name of cause, never by name of person.
Quality
Our quality system is certified to ISO 9001. In practice that means a documented inspection and test plan on every project, third-party testing on structural work, and a punch process that starts at 80% completion instead of at substantial completion, when it is too late to fix anything cheaply.
Environment
Certified to ISO 14001. We track fuel, waste diversion and water use by project rather than by company, because a company-level average hides the job that is doing badly. Diesel plant is being replaced with lower-emission tiers as the fleet turns over.
Our offices
One yard, one gate, one dispatch.
The office, the shop and the equipment yard all sit on the same site on East Jefferson Street. Estimating, scheduling and dispatch happen in the same building, which is the least glamorous competitive advantage we have and probably the most useful one — a question that would take three days to route through a regional structure gets answered here by walking down a corridor.
Crews work throughout Citrus County and the surrounding region. If your project sits outside that, call anyway and we will tell you honestly whether we can serve it properly.
