When you shut the truck door at the end of the day, did you make something? Most jobs cannot answer that. Ours can.
You can drive your kids past a school and tell them you framed it. That is not a small thing, and it is the reason people stay here — our median tenure is just over nine years, which in this industry is unusual enough that we get asked about it.
The other reason is that we treat the trades as a career rather than as a cost line. We pay for licenses, certifications and continuing education. We move people between divisions on purpose so they learn how a project actually fits together. And we promote on competence, not on how long someone has been waiting their turn.
We are also honest about the parts that are hard. The work is physical. Weather matters. Some jobs mean early starts and a long drive. We would rather tell you that now than have you find out in week three.

Health, dental and vision

Dollar-for-dollar to 4%, vesting on a two-year schedule. Enrolment is automatic; you can opt out.
Paid training and licenses
We cover certifications, continuing education and the hours it takes to sit them. Including the exam fee if you fail it the first time.
Tools and gear
PPE, cold-weather gear and a tool allowance provided. You should not have to fund your own safety equipment.
Predictable scheduling
Crews get their look-ahead on Thursday for the following week. Overtime is offered, not assumed.
Stop-work authority
Everyone has it, from the first day. No one at SSA has ever been disciplined for using it, and we track that.

Students & apprentices
Start here. Quite a few people never left.
We run a four-year registered apprenticeship in carpentry and a three-year program in heavy equipment operation, both paid from the first day and both combining classroom hours with time on live projects.
For students in construction management, civil engineering and architecture, we take summer interns across all four divisions. Interns are given real scope — a submittal log, a quantity takeoff, a site inspection — because fetching coffee teaches nobody anything.
We also host site visits for high school and trade programs. If you teach one, get in touch and we will find you a project worth walking.
